SUMMARY:

Avel eCARE is seeking a dynamic and board-certified physician leader to serve as Medical Director for our Specialty Clinic Service Line. This critical, full-time role drives the strategic development, clinical excellence, and policy direction of the service line. The Medical Director will provide visionary clinical leadership, overseeing policy adherence, quality assessment, and risk management across all provider activities. We require a leader with significant experience and a proven dedication to expanding access and quality care for vulnerable and underserved populations. Working in close consultation with leadership, this key role is responsible for establishing and achieving site recruitment and retention objectives (OKRs), promoting the program, and ensuring consistent, high-quality care.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Clinical Direction. Physician shall provide clinical direction and guidelines for the clinical activities of physician, non-physician, and student professional personnel in the Program, including, without limitation, those nurses, technicians, student nurses, medical students, interns, and residents that may serve in the Program. Physician is responsible for the completion of Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluations (OPPE) for the Specialty Clinic providers.
2. Program Policies. Physician shall develop and periodically review/revise for approval, the Program’s professional policies, protocols, procedures, and standards all of which shall comply with state and federal guidelines.
3. Quality Assessment and Utilization Review. Physician shall participate in the quality assessment programs necessary to ensure the Program’s compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and insurance requirements and shall participate in such other quality assessment programs as reasonably requested.
4. Risk Management. Physician shall participate in the risk management programs conducted by leadership to ensure the Program’s compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and insurance requirements and shall participate in such other risk management programs as reasonably requested.
5. Program Promotion. Physician may from time to time be requested to participate in promotion of Program to the public, physicians and community. Physician agrees to participate in this effort. Physician will be expected to work with the business development team and account executives for sales and customer service. 
6. Scheduling and Program Coverage. Physician shall develop, in coordination with the other affected physicians, a schedule for ensuring the prompt and predictable availability of the professional services offered by the Program. Such physician coverage shall be up to 365 days per year availability. Physician shall assist in recruitment, retention, interviews, onboarding, and training of Specialty Clinic providers. 
7. Budget. Physician shall, upon the Leadership’s request, assist in the preparation of the annual and long-term operating and capital budgets for the Program.
8. Resource. Physician shall be a resource to other physicians regarding Avel eCare Specialty Clinic Service Line.
9. Clinical Responsibilities and Administrative Hours. The Physician will perform a mix of clinical and administrative duties related to the medical directorship role. It is understood that there will be some variance, as needed, to cover the demands of the various clinical obligations.  The Avel eCare CMO will work together to determine need for any deviation from contracted hours. 
10. Monthly Reports and Time Logs. Physician shall provide to the CMO of Avel a monthly report of activities undertaken and achievement related to contractual responsibilities in the prior month. Physician shall also provide documentation of the time invested in these activities. Failure to provide the report and time log will result in withholding of further compensation until this requirement is met.
11. Client Relationships. The Physician shall establish and maintain an effective and strong working relationship with contracted entities by providing dedicated support as needed. 

REQUIRED EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

• At least one unrestricted state medical doctor license is required.
• Must have at least 5+ years of related experience.
• Proven experience as a Medical Director in an outpatient setting required.
• Prior experience in a multi-specialty clinic preferred.

CERTIFICATION, LICENSURE, and/or REGISTRATIONS:

• Board certified in specialty is required. 
• Active DEA certification required.
