Director - Special Projects

SUMMARY: The Director of Special Projects to spearhead the successful integration and execution of strategic growth initiatives. This pivotal role oversees two primary growth pillars: acquisitive growth with a focus on integrating acquired organizations, services, or practices and Strategic Organic Growth with a focus on scaling new or close-won business with regional or national footprints. The Director ensures that every strategic investment meets its operational imperatives and financial objectives.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Strategic Integration & Execution
- Direct the implementation and management of new business ventures in partnership with service line clinical and operational leaders.
- Ensure the execution of specific investment targets, ensuring deliverables align with Avel’s long-term financial and operational goals.
- Bridge the gap between high-level strategy and day-to-day execution for newly onboarded or developed entities.
2. Operational Excellence & Monitoring
- Collaborate across service lines to identify internal opportunities for process improvement and efficiency.
- Assist in establishing, measuring, and monitoring Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and financial performance metrics for all special projects.
- Provide data-driven insights to ensure projects remain on schedule and within budget.
3. Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with the Acquisition Team to support due diligence and lead the post-merger integration process.
- Work alongside the Innovation and Product Teams to evaluate potential strategic growth opportunities for organizational fit and scalability.
- Act as a primary liaison between clinical leadership and corporate strategy.
4. Leadership & Reporting
- Routinely advise senior leadership on project progress, emerging obstacles, and strategic recommendations.
- Navigate complex roadblocks by providing creative solutions to ensure successful scaling of regional and national footprints.
- Strong influence skills with the ability to lead cross-functional teams without direct authority.
- Ability to evaluate "best fit" for innovation and product opportunities within a complex clinical environment.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, developing, training, and retaining employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
REQUIRED EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, Business, or a related field required; MBA or MHA preferred.
- 7+ years of experience in healthcare operations, strategic project management, or corporate development. Experience with post-acquisition integration is highly preferred.
- Proven ability to manage budgets, interpret financial statements, and track ROI on multi-million-dollar investments.
REQUIRED CERTIFICATION, LICENSURE, and/or REGISTRATIONS:
- This position requires a valid driver’s license and that the employee is insurable by the Avel automobile liability insurance carrier.
