About this Opportunity:
The Avel eCare Emergency Services Line requires paramedics to demonstrate a competent and professional level of care in their role. As primary clinicians for EMS encounters, the EMT-P is responsible for providing emergency care according to the South Dakota Department of Health ALS scope and standards. This role involves taking responsibility for patient care and making informed decisions regarding treatment. EMT-Ps will assess, diagnose, implement, and evaluate patient care while maintaining professionalism, accountability, and ethics in all aspects of their duties.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Responsibilities:
- Serve as primary clinician for EMS encounters, managing crisis situations in hospital emergencies.
- Collect and evaluate patient health data to ensure appropriate care and determine needs.
- Set personalized patient goals and develop care plans with necessary interventions.
- Implement and adjust care plans based on patient progress and outcomes.
- Regularly evaluate care quality, personal performance, and adherence to standards.
- Stay current on medical knowledge and foster a collaborative work environment.
- Uphold the NREMT Code of Conduct and ensure ethical, evidence-based practices.
- Collaborate with patients, families, and healthcare teams for comprehensive care.
- Deliver safe, cost-effective care while utilizing technology and resources effectively.
- Provide leadership within the EMS field and support peer development.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience:
- Graduation from an accredited or approved paramedic program is required.
- 3-5 years of EMS experience is required.
Certification, Licensure, and/or Registrations:
- Licensed as an NREMT-Paramedic is required.
- Licensed in the state of South Dakota through SDBMOE is required.
- Paramedic licensure required in other states where eEmergency services are provided, within 120 days of hire.
- Additional certifications in specialty areas are preferred.
- Membership in a professional EMS organization is preferred.
- State-specific certification/education must be completed within required timelines.

REQUIRED PHYSICAL ABILITIES:
- Regularly required to talk or hear.
- Frequently required to sit; occasionally required to stand, walk, and perform other physical tasks.
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds occasionally.
- Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
REQUIRED COMMUNICATION/MATHEMATICAL/REASONING SKILLS:
- Must have the ability to read, write, speak, and apply mathematical concepts effectively.
- Must be proficient in basic computer operations, particularly within the Windows operating system.
- Critical thinking, problem-solving, and multitasking abilities are required for success in this role.
