About this Opportunity:

The Avel eCare Emergency Services Line requires paramedics to demonstrate a competent and professional level of care in their role. As primary clinicians for EMS encounters, the EMT-P is responsible for providing emergency care according to the South Dakota Department of Health ALS scope and standards. This role involves taking responsibility for patient care and making informed decisions regarding treatment. EMT-Ps will assess, diagnose, implement, and evaluate patient care while maintaining professionalism, accountability, and ethics in all aspects of their duties.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Responsibility:

  • Serve as the primary clinician for EMS encounters, addressing crisis situations for hospital emergency encounters.

Assessment:

  • Collect patient health data and evaluate the patient's condition to ensure appropriate care.

Diagnosis:

  • Analyze assessment data to determine patient needs and focus of care.

Outcome Identification:

  • Set personalized goals for patients, ensuring the best possible outcomes based on assessment.

Planning:

  • Develop an effective plan of care, outlining necessary interventions to achieve outcomes.

Implementation:

  • Execute the planned interventions and manage patient care according to the established plan.

Evaluation:

  • Regularly assess the patient's progress toward recovery and adjust care as needed.

Quality of Care:

  • Continuously evaluate the quality and effectiveness of the provided care to improve patient outcomes.

Performance Appraisal:

  • Regularly evaluate personal performance and ensure compliance with professional standards and regulations.

Education:

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge and skills to ensure safe and effective patient care.

Collegiality:

  • Support the development of peers and colleagues, fostering a collaborative work environment.

Ethics:

  • Uphold the NREMT Code of Conduct in all decisions and actions related to patient care.

ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience:

  • Graduation from an accredited or approved paramedic program is required.
  • 3-5 years of EMS experience is required.

Certification, Licensure, and/or Registrations:

  • Licensed as an NREMT-Paramedic is required.
  • Licensed in the state of South Dakota through SDBMOE is required.
  • Paramedic licensure required in other states where eEmergency services are provided, within 120 days of hire.
  • Additional certifications in specialty areas are preferred.
  • Membership in a professional EMS organization is preferred.
  • State-specific certification/education must be completed within required timelines.

REQUIRED PHYSICAL ABILITIES:

  • Regularly required to talk or hear.
  • Frequently required to sit; occasionally required to stand, walk, and perform other physical tasks.
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds occasionally.
  • Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

REQUIRED COMMUNICATION/MATHEMATICAL/REASONING SKILLS:

  • Must have the ability to read, write, speak, and apply mathematical concepts effectively.
  • Must be proficient in basic computer operations, particularly within the Windows operating system.
  • Critical thinking, problem-solving, and multitasking abilities are required for success in this role.
